Time to Payback to Deaf community, give the opportunity to deaf people teach asl, it is their native language that they use every day. Be check the background of how they are fluent in asl and deaf culture.
— check their background (what schools?)
— check for ASLTA certification
— check for community connections (are they active in local Deaf organizations?)
For example, I grew up with my family who can sign well, attend the deaf school, and graduated from Gallaudet “deaf university.”
But really, those who become offended will be offended no matter what. those who fully understand will not take it personally
